Wandering Workshops is on a mission to make the outdoor and action sports space accessible to more people. We provide a safe space for under-represented groups to join in. We believe the outdoors is for everyone, and we all have the right to enjoy the wellbeing it offers.
Wandering Workshops are running two weekend bike workshops. Choose from mountain biking on 1st & 2nd July or gravel biking on 8th and 9th July.
Both the mountain bike and gravel bike workshops are aimed at people who have basic bike handling skills and some experience of off-road cycling. The routes are not technical, however a good general fitness is required. Expect to ride forest roads and paths, with some steady climbs and sections of loose terrain.
Over the course of the weekend, you’ll learn the basics of route planning, navigation and safety in the outdoors, while discovering some beautiful trails in the Cairngorms National Park.

Over the days, the group will learn the basics of route planning, navigation and safety in the outdoors, be part of the adventure planning process and experience two different adventure routes. Photography coaching happens throughout the workshops plus yoga, meditation and sense-making sessions are offered daily. A shared meaning-making and storytelling session will bring the workshop to a close on the final evening.
Your hosts will be three times Olympian snowboarder, ski and snowboard coach/instructor and yoga teacher, Lesley McKenna and professional photographer, and outdoor sports journalist, Hannah Bailey. Hannah and Lesley are joined by partner guides for each sport offered. Our partner MTB guide for 2023 is Fiona Finnie from Elevate Mtn Biking.
Through expert coaching both in the sports and in photography and story/meaning-making, each person will create a memorable visual tale of their adventure and shared experiences. The insights gained through collaborative, embodied connection in the awe-inspring natural environment have the potential to be life changing in a very positive way.
